Mountain Biking

Pura Vida – adiridas in Costa Rica

Early this year, five of the adiridas traveled to Costa Rica seeking for unique photo spots. Together with photographer Haruki ‚Harookz’ Noguchi and two Costa Rican guides of Big Mountain Bike Adventures, Ben Boyko, Richie Schley, Alex Reveles, Pierre-Edouard Ferry and Niki Leitner embarked on a 10-day road trip through the lush outdoor paradise.

„There must be something here. We just can’t see it yet.“ Ben Boyko moves around to get a better view. Richie Schley nods his head. „The spot is too great to not shoot here.“

The two are on top of a mountain in the center of Costa Rica. An open field surrounded by thick indigenous forest. The view is amazing. Clouds that swirl about the mountaintops, a desolated tree, and warped boles covered with light green moss give the scenery an almost mystical touch.

Boyko stares at the lone tree. Suddenly he turns around with a big grin on his face. “I know what we do! You see this stump? We can build a hip into it and build a landing using the log over there.” Richie is skeptical. “I don’t think this is gonna work. The gap is way too big.” But Ben is hooked. “Harookz and I have been building a hip gap that is a lot bigger than this one. Believe me, we can make it work. So let’s get going. We must ask Paulo if we can build here.”
