Kayaking

Tessin Isorno

Text: Markus Hummel

After having spent a couple of days in beautiful Val Sesia we moved because of a lack of water and no sun up to the Tessin. We already proved both our endurance and condition at Teva Extreme Race and our mental strength on the Devil Slides, so we were ready to kayak!

Our team's size was perfect: Olaf, Manuel with wife and kids, Floh, Fabian and me. We made our first tours under perfect conditions, sunshine and 25°C, on Melezza and Verzasca. Although Fabian was 100% in shape because of a stomach flu he couldn't resist and drawed a perfect line - the famous fall of the lower Verzasca (check the news).

On the following day Manuel decided to go home with his family because a sudden fall of temperature and strong rain flooded the camping side. Also Fabian had to go back to Augsburg and meet his obligations.

Firstly we all have been pretty demotivated by the cold and rainy weather and the wet clothes as well, the rising water level and the new team member Thilo Schmitt gave us rapidly new motivation. Next stop: the upper Isorno. So we went up there, changed our clothes and grabed the boat because the last kilometres were not passable by car because of a barrier.
