Michele Ramazza is the King of the Alps 2017

The extreme kayaking race season in Europe has started with good results for the adidas Sickline team member Michele Ramazza. After a 3rd place in the OutdoorMix in France, Michele has took home the title of “King of the Alps” in Meran (ITA) followed by Daniel Klotzner and Daniel Haller, both from Tirol.

The King of the Alps race is the combination of a 23 minute mass start marathon and an extreme sprint freeride. At the start more than 100 competitors from all over the world started hard to get one of the 20 spots for the extreme freeride finals.

In the marathon Eric Deguil (FRA) managed to finish in first place, leading all the marathon and followed by Martin Unterthurner (ITA) and Michele Ramazza (ITA) on his tail.

In the women category, Pavlina Zasterova (CZE) took home the 1st place, Marieke Vogt (AUT) got 2nd, followed by Jana Joeressen (AUT) on 3rd place.

In the finals, taking place in the wonderful class V rapid of the Passer river in Moso, the men went through 2 qualification rounds, followed by a spectacular final in which Michele Ramazza took the lead with a time very close to Daniel Klotzner (ITA) who landed on second place.

Many people were watching the race on a wonderful warm day in the South Tyrolean Alps. Of course the race ended with a big party, super well organized by the DRD4 team.

Now for the extreme athletes of the adidas Sickline team there are two more events in Europe: Extreme Sport Week in Voss (NOR) at the end of June and the Devils Race (CZE) before the adidas Sickline Extreme World Championship in Oetz (AUT).
